A legal malpractice case between a Wisconsin church that branched off from a church in St. Louis, Missouri and their former law firm has stalled a dispute between the two churches.
Polish-Roman Catholic St. Stanislaus broke off from the St. Louis Archdiocese after they had several disputes over property ownership in Missouri. The St. Louis Archdiocese continues to try to regain control of the Wisconsin church.
However, the fight between the two churches has been put on hold since St. Stanislaus filed a legal malpractice lawsuit against the lawyers they were using in the case.
St. Stanislaus has accused the law firm they hired to handle their dispute with the Archdiocese of using information against them to help the St. Louis church. According to court documents, the law firm has a satellite office in St. Louis.
