A 30-year-old man is in custody, accused of second degree murder and resisting arrest after running a red light and hitting a 19-year-old boy on the sidewalk. This fatal hit-and-run car accident happened in north St. Louis late last week. The teenager died at the scene while the driver drove away from the accident.
Police initially pulled him over for running a stop sign. When asked for identification, he sped away before hitting the young man. The driver is in custody, but police say there were at least two other people in the car that fled the scene.
Our deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of the victim.
