Are you prepared for one of the greatest celebrations ever to hit St. Louis?
On New Year’s Eve, the city will begin celebrating its 250th Anniversary. The party at Grand Center’s New Year’s Eve First Night 2013 will kick off the yearlong extravaganza.
Events around the city’s semiquincentennial milestone will be held to increase pride in our region by building on the momentum already in place. The lead organization, stl250, was created by area volunteers to coordinate the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of St. Louis by Pierre Laclede.
The celebration will literally last the entire year, ending on New Year’s Eve 2014. Events will be held throughout 2014 by stl250 and thousands of other organizations and communities.
We would like to encourage you to play a role in this yearlong party by becoming a “Celebration Partner,” volunteering, or sponsoring events.
Be sure to follow stl250 on Twitter and Facebook for updates on events.
After the Grand Center’s New Year’s Eve bash, there are many events on the schedule soon, including:
- Jazz St. Louis stl250 Spotlight Series: On New Year’s Day, notable St. Louis area musicians will pay homage to the city’s great musicians of the past.
- Jefferson National Expansion Memorial 1764 Twelfth Afternoon Ball: Visit this free event in historic attire (encouraged, but not required) on Jan. 4 at noon in the Rotunda of the Old Courthouse. Music and dancing will again be heard just as the Early French inhabitants did in the Illinois country 250 years ago.
- Resolution Run 5K: Get a jump start on your New Year’s resolution with this run for all ages, set for Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Greater St. Louis.
From all of us at Finney Law Office, LLC, we want to wish you a happy New Year and hope to see you at the stl250 celebrations that follow!
Also, we’d enjoy hearing your about your experiences throughout 2014. Please tweet your pictures from stl250 events at @StLouisPILaw.
