U.S. researchers have recently stated that diagnosticians may face a higher risk of medical malpractice claims because there has been a large increase in number of diagnostic tests that have been ordered.
According to a doctor at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn stated that in the past decade, the number of diagnostic tests that have been ordered has increased dramatically.
The fast paced increase of tests has put diagnosticians at risk of a malpractice lawsuit because of failures in test communication. It is cited in the study that the number of malpractice claims between the years of 1996 to 2003 have increased by 40 percent. The study will be published in the Journal of American College of Radiology.
