Recently, a Pennsylvania attorney sued for legal malpractice agreed to pay $4.25 million to settle the lawsuit. Donald P. Russo, of Allentown, is being held responsible for $3 million in compensatory damages and $1.25 million in punitive damages.
Rox-Ann Reifer filed the legal malpractice lawsuit against Russo after she hired him to represent her and he failed to show up at her court date. Court documents state that Russo also informed Reifer not to show up. Reifer hired Russo to protect her in a disciplinary case with the Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 concerning her termination from a teaching position in a public school in Easton, Pennsylvania.
