Officials in Missouri are concerned with the rise in the number of pedestrian car accidents in Kansas City.
A fatal pedestrian accident that occurred when a 64-year-old crossing guard was struck and killed was the eighth pedestrian-related death in the city this year. This number is already two more than the total for 2010 and Missouri officials are concerned with the increase.
Across the state, there have been 21 pedestrian-related deaths and in the same period in 2010, there were nine. Officials can not determine what has caused the increase, but they are launching a new safety campaign in order to prevent any more deaths.
