A fire broke out at the Mizzou Power Plant when the floating platforms caught fire, but no serious injuries have been reported.
According to officials, the fire broke out as a welder was cutting metal when a canvas tarp burst into flames. Fire crews are working to determine what exactly caused the platform to ignite.
Work crews used fire extinguishers and water to put out the flame and are currently working to replace the smoke stack’s platform. A canvas was also placed on top of the area to prevent pieces from flying off and hitting people down below.
