The jury involved in a slip and fall lawsuit has ruled in favor of the victim in the case. They deemed the defendant, Starbucks, to have acted negligently in maintaining one of their San Diego stores.
The prosecutor in the case was a San Diego man who sustained serious head injuries after falling in a Vista Starbucks. The floor was wet due to the manager of the store choosing to mop the area only minutes before the man lost his balance. After receiving these injuries, the man could no longer work as a chiropractor and was ultimately unable to provide an income for his family.
He sued the national coffee chain in order to gain lost wages as well as other damages. The jury returned a verdict of $7.5 million in favor of the victim and his family.
