A car accident that occurred in Duluth on Thursday morning around 7:30 a.m. left one driver dead and a passenger severely injured.
A 65-year-old woman was driving her 13-year-old grandson to school on Woodland Avenue when her vehicle was struck by an apparent drunk driver. That driver was a 19-year-old who crossed over the center line on the street and hit the woman’s car head-on.
The grandmother was taken to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Her grandson suffered serious injuries and was transported to Essentia Health St. Mary’s Medical Center, where he is currently listed in critical condition. The drunk driver was not injured in the crash and is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on several different charges.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
