See Stingrays at Caribbean Cove

By Daniel Finney

Caribbean Cove | St. Louis, MO Personal Injury Attorney | Finney Law Office, LLCGoing to the zoo can be great fun for the whole family; however, the outing usually doesn’t allow you to get up close and personal with the wild animals. The St. Louis Zoo is changing that. This spring, they’re introducing the stingrays exhibit at Caribbean Cove.

At the stingrays exhibit, you can watch, touch, and even feed real stingrays. The stingrays can’t sting you because their barbs have been painlessly clipped just as you would clip your fingernails or toenails; this means the exhibit is safe and fun for the whole family.

The 17,000-gallon pool is home to cownose stingrays, southern stingrays, horseshoe crabs, white spotted bamboo sharks, and bonnethead sharks. The bamboo sharks are also know as “cat sharks” because they have what resembles whiskers near their mouths. The bonnethead shark is a member of the hammerhead family. While the sharks are typically too timid for petting, you may get lucky and be able to touch one.

This exhibit is just $4 per person, with children under two getting in for free. If you’re a zoo member at the “family level,” you can get in for free with your anywhere plus pass.

The Stingrays at Caribbean Cove exhibit is open beginning April 18 until September 28. Don’t miss your chance to get close to these exotic sea creatures.
