Jet Slides off St. Louis Runway

By Daniel Finney

Jet Slides off St. Louis Runway | Missouri Personal Injury Attorney | Finney Law Offices, LLCA GoJet Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 airplane out of Chicago slid off the runway at Lambert St. Louis International Airport on Dec. 9. At the time of the accident, the plane was on the taxiway approaching the terminals when its nose gear got stuck in the mud. Although the no one was injured in the incident, it still received national news coverage.

We always hear that flying is safer than driving, but because of the extreme speeds and altitudes at which planes fly, airline accidents are sensational , and sure to make the news, regardless of how minor they may be. According to the National Safety Council produces an “odds of dying” chart. You have a 1-in-98 chance of dying in a car accident during your lifetime. The odds of dying in an airplane accident? 1-in-7,178.

Despite the small chance of being injured or killed when flying, airline accidents capture the national attention. Although they rarely fall from the sky, when a single plane crashes it often results in dozens, if not hundreds, of injuries or deaths, where the typical car accident involves only a few people. Despite those numbers, car accidents will affect far more families this year than plane crashes. And the results of more typical accidents are just as devastating for the families of the victims.

If one of your loved ones has been injured or killed in an accident, you may find yourself scrambling for guidance. Working through the details of the accident and determining whether you have a right to compensation for your injuries can be very challenging and emotionally exhausting. That’s why it’s so important to seek the counsel of a St. Louis personal injury attorney who can assist you with the financial side of the recovery process.
