Tragedy On a Carnival Cruise Line

By Daniel Finney

Carnival Cruise Drowning | Wrongful Death Attorney | Finney Law Office, LLCA six-year-old boy drowned on a Carnival Cruise ship in early October. Immediately after a tragedy like this, it is perfectly normal, and healthy, for us as a society to question how accidents like this happen in the first place. After all, a cruise ship is usually a very crowded place, and small children don’t typically wander the ship unattended.

When answers are needed in a case like this, the experience of a wrongful death attorney is invaluable.

According to a report from CNN, The boy on the cruise ship was apparently playing with his ten-year-old brother when he fell in, and later his body was found. From eyewitness reports, the boy was playing in the pool unsupervised, and according to a Carnival spokesperson, the cruise line does not employ lifeguards for its pools. When the boy was discovered, another passenger pulled him from the water and someone started CPR. That intercession was unsuccessful, and the boy was pronounced dead.

Although the shock and grief a person experiences immediately after an event like this make it hard to focus on anything else, it is crucial to find a qualified wrongful death attorney as soon as possible after the incident. Evidence that is essential in a case like this usually will not stick around for long. Eyewitness reports, photographs of the scene, and emergency call records may be important to the case, and the longer the time that elapses, the better the chance that a witness will be unavailable or other evidence destroyed.

Drowning is, unfortunately, one of the most common forms of accidental death in the U.S. Often these terrible incidents are preventable, but due to someone’s negligence, a child’s life is tragically cut short. Every day, an average of ten people die in unintentional drowning incidents. Contact a qualified personal injury attorney if someone you know has been affected by a drowning or near-drowning accident.
